After only opening six months ago, a Mount Gambier business has won a national award at a gala awards ceremony in Adelaide on Saturday night.
Autocare Mount Gambier, a Repco authorised service centre, was awarded the National New Dealer of the Year Award by Repco.
The local business, which opened on Calula Drive in February this year, was one of 17 to be established across the country in the past year.
Owners Ian and Tania Clark said they were thrilled with the win which they saw as recognition for their entire team.
“The award was based on a myriad of things, including how we’ve developed our business, our presentation, customer service and our staff,” Tania said.
“It was based on the big picture and I think we ticked a number of boxes.”
According to Ian, a major factor in the business’ award win was its dedicated team of staff as well as a growing clientele of loyal customers.
“One of the things we can be thankful for is that we’ve been really, really well supported by the local community, both private and business customers,” he said.
“We’ve had huge support in these first six months.
“The staff we’ve got are also fantastic … without those guys we wouldn’t have had the chance to win this award.”
For Ian, who is a mechanic by trade and has been in the automotive industry for 22 years, winning the award has been the icing on the cake after taking the plunge and opening his own business.
“The first six months have been a huge learning curve,” he said.
“But this award has made it all worthwhile.”
