A snowman made from hail.

A freak hailstorm hit parts of Mount Gambier today. Reader Meg Merrett said the icy downpour struck the Swallow Drive area about 10am and lasted five minutes.

Not long afterwards the sun was shining.

“It left our yard covered in a white coating of hail that my kids called snow and made a little snowman with it,” Meg said.

Austyn (3) and Hollie (5) Merrett are pictured with their “snowman” made from hail while the sun shines.
