Eight tourism operators will be representing the Limestone Coast at the upcoming South Australian Tourism Awards.

Local businesses including wineries, tour operators and accommodation providers will be competing in their respective categories for the opportunity to be named one of South Australia’s best tourism operators.

Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith says the competition will be strong, with more than 100 entries received for this year’s awards.

“I wish all the Limestone Coast entrants good luck as they contest the awards in November,” Ms Lomax-Smith said.

“Each year the awards acknowledge the achievements of our tourism industry while setting benchmarks for future tourism services and products.

“It is inspiring to see the commitment that people have to their area and tourism businesses by reviewing their success through the awards process, while building their professionalism and profile to the public.”

Ms Lomax-Smith said the tourism industry generates almost $4 billion in expenditure for the state each year and the goal was to make it a $6.3 billion contributor by 2014.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on November 22.

Entrants from the Limestone Coast are: Aquifer Tours, Cape Jaffa Wines, Cellar Door Pass, Happyshack, Hollick Wines, Kingston Shore Villas, Lakeside Manor YHA and The Poplars Cellar Door Precinct.
