Hockey talent runs in family

Bragging rights are on the line when the Pacific School Games are held later this month, with one young hockey player hoping to beat her mum’s recent performance.
Kerry Pedlar recently represented South Australia at the hockey national championships’ 40 – 45 year old age group and in the same year, will share the state colours with daughter Eliza.
It is the second time Eliza has donned the South Australian uniform and she is hoping to fare better than her mum’s fifth placed finish at the national championships which culminated early last month.
Although there is bragging rights on the line, it is a rare honour for the mother-daughter combination to both be wearing the state colours.
“I think it’s pretty good,” Kerry said.
“It is a big commitment financially, but it has worked out well.”
In a strange twist, Kerry would not have been representing SA if it were not for her daughter’s selection and to add to the mix, they both share the same coach.
Eliza was chosen for the Pacific School Games team after impressing at trials and a carnival in June,
