The Mount Gambier ABC Learning Centre will continue operating in 2009.
While some centres are still under review across the country and possibly face closure, the Mount Gambier Queens Avenue facility, which opened several years ago, is one of 656 which will trade after December 31.
The news will also be welcomed by the centre’s staff at Mount Gambier and the businesses which supply goods and services to the childcare centre.
ABC Learning Centres Ltd receiver Chris Honey said he was confident that there was a sustainable business model for the majority of centres.
“This will be very welcome news for all parents with children at these centres,” Mr Honey said.
“As a first step I have pleased to be able to provide certainty to as many parents and staff as quickly as I can.”
With respect to the remaining centres, he said the review would be ongoing.
“We are very grateful to the vast number of parents and staff at ABC Learning Centres who continue to support their local centres and staff in these very difficult and uncertain times,” Mr Honey said.
