New firefighting tool demonstrated

Local firefighters attended a demonstration of a new firefighting product in Mount Gambier recently.
The Western Australian developed product, Kill Fire, is already in use by firefighters in Western Australia and New South Wales and is currently being trialed by the Gippsland CFA in Victoria.
It was introduced to South Australia early this month and the local demonstration by SLS Trading was attended by Mount Gambier MFS staff and South East CFS members.
SLS Trading manager Malcolm Grace said Kill Fire had a dual purpose, as both a fire extinguisher and retardant, with the retardant properties lasting a week from the date of application.
“It can be used both as a retardant, to establish fire breaks, and also to kill the fire when it actually is burning,” Mr Grace said.
“When Kill Fire is applied to timber or grass, the fire just will not burn that material.”
Mr Grace said as well as the CFS and MFS, the product also had applications for use in forestry, plantations and farming.
He also said the product was not harmful to the environment.
“It is totally environmentally friendly, it uses 10pc of the normal water to put out a similar fire,” Mr Grace said.

We are a South African based distributor of safety and fire-fighjting equipment. We would be interested in making contact with the manufacturer of the Fire Kill product with a view to exploring the local market.
We were hoping you might be in a position to assist us in making contact.
Thanks & regards

Could some one confirm whether this fire retardant was used during the recent
bush fires in Victoria.
I have been given to understand that the Victorian bushfire authority would not
approve of it’s use, because the product was not approved by the
U.S. forestry authority.
I can’t believe there is a product that will protect people, property and animals and nobody mentions it when they warn about fires. I have seen a demonstration and it should be advertised on television for everyone to see. Isn’t it better for people to have a choice than to find out later that it was available? A bit late when you have lost everything to a fire.
I am a Victorian fire fighter and have witnessed this product in action , and spoken to the owner of it , and find it anoying that politicts and big business are slowing down the main streaming of this product .How many people and properties must be affected before our leaders ignore big bussiness and do what is in the best interest of the people , after all isn’t that why we voted for them .
