Merry Christmas

Behind the Merry Christmas signs in Robe’s Christmas Parade on Sunday were Shirley Snook, Anne McLay, Helen Lynch, and Irene Stratford.

About 300 people lined Robe’s main street on the weekend for the seaside town’s annual Light Up Robe and Mayoral Christmas Parade.

Almost 30 floats paraded through the street, providing the crowd with plenty of music, laughter and cheer.

Behind the parade was a dedicated committee led by president Nesla Boundy, secretary Wendy White and Treasurer Anne McLay.

Mrs Boundy said the committee had spent eight months working on the parade and the reward was seeing so many people turn out to enjoy the event.

“So many people enjoying it just makes you feel good,” she said.

“We had some people visiting from Europe; they were absolutely amazed the parade was made up of just people of our town, they thought it was done by people of our (regional area).

“A lot of businesses in Robe donated vouchers, money and gifts for us to run the parade.

“The next thing we would like to do is get more lights on our Christmas tree in the main street.”
