Retirement village has new managers

Highly motivated to provide a homely and caring living environment to residents, Paul and Vicky Etheridge last week stepped in to manage the Mount Gambier Retirement Village on Penola Road.
Pets are welcome and residents are free to plant their favourite flowers in the garden.
“We understand how heartbreaking it could be to be separated from pets and those who always enjoyed a bit of gardening, can continue to do it here,” they said.
The Etheridge couple moved from Millicent to live on the premises and to support residents.
Mrs Etheridge’s former client services and office administration skills, combined with her husband’s commercial business counselling skills, prepared them well for the new challenge.
Apart from administration work, Mrs Etheridge cooks three meals a day for residents and takes care of their laundry, while Mr Etheridge takes the gardening and maintenance responsibilities upon him.
One of their main challenges of their new job is to help promote available units in the 58 unit complex.
All the units have one bedroom, a living room, kitchen and a bathroom and laundry combined and include gas heaters, ceiling fans and television sets.
Units are not sold to residents and rented out with no extra hidden costs.
“The units are unfurnished but if needed, some furniture can be provided,” they said.
“The important thing is that residents are in a safe environment where they are looked after if they need medical or other assistance and they can even opt for an emergency call system.”
