ETSA on standby for extreme heat

ETSA has additional crews rostered and on standby due to forecast heat overnight and the threat of strong winds tomorrow.

“We share the concern of the CFS regarding the combination of the heat and high winds,” said Sue Filby, general manager services.

“We will be monitoring the progress of the cool change as it moves across the sate tomorrow.

“Strong winds are a threat to the network, particularly when combined with the threat posed by so many trees stressed by the drought. The conditions clearly increase the potential for outages.”

Ms Filby said members of the public should never approach damaged electrical equipment.

“Downed lines may still be live. We recommend people keep themselves and others well clear and contact us immediately on 131 366,” she said.
