A chicken burger sparked a house fire in Mount Gambier.

An unattended chicken burger ignited a stove fire in Mount Gambier this afternoon.

MFS firefighters were called to the Bellshire Place address at 2.27pm and quickly extinguished the blaze.

Police and an ambulance also attended.

Damage was contained to the stove and no injuries were reported.

MFS regional manager George Rodis said the fire was a reminder that serious fires can spark from simple accidents.

“Residents should remain alert and be careful to not leave stoves and cook tops unattended,” Mr Rodis said.

“A good quick response prevented any further damage.”
