Rachael shows she can dance

An internationally renowned ballet dancer who begun dancing in Mount Gambier will take to the stage during the finale of So You Think You Can Dance Australia.
Queensland Ballet principal dancer Rachael Walsh will perform as a guest artist on Sunday night when the show airs nationally on Network 10.
The event will mark another step in her exciting journey after she began dancing 25 years ago under the tuition of Maxine Lockwood at the Maryke Dance Academy in Mount Gambier.
Rachael has extra ties to the show as she mentored final four contestant Talia, an 18-year-old ballet dance from Brisbane.
Talia received mentoring from Rachael last year as she worked towards joining the Queensland Ballet Company before auditioning for the television show.
While many would consider performing on national television daunting, Rachael is an experienced dancer who has held many lead roles in ballets across the globe.
Proud father Ben Walsh spoke with The Border Watch as his daughter underwent intense rehearsals yesterday in preparation for the finale.
Mr Walsh said Rachael had appeared on national television in several countries and was lucky enough to have dinner with the Japanese Emperor.
Ms Walsh is just one of several former Maryke dancers who are making waves within the industry with former Mount Gambier residents Luke Ingham appearing on ABC2 on Wednesday night with the Australian National Ballet and Lisa Robinson also climbing through the ranks in Canada.
