Australian entertainment industry icon Rhonda Burchmore’s performance at The Poplars Winery next Friday night is sure to be a highlight of the 2009 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival.

The event will be held from May 14 to 17 with a packed program of entertainment.

After 25 years in the entertainment business, Rhonda Burchmore remains one of the nation’s most in-demand artists.

Her passion for performing live never ceases to enthral audiences of all ages and it is no wonder she remains at the top with her sensual style, naughty personality, diverse repertoire, brilliant voice and engaging energy.

She will perform classic songs at the venue barrel shed from 8pm on May 15 in an event compered by festival patron Bryan Dawe.

Tickets, including a light supper, are $55, and can be booked by calling the Penola Coonawarra Visitor Information Centre on 8737 2855.

Information on other events held over the festival weekend, including a program, are also available from the centre and more details will be published in The Border Watch next week.

The Poplars Winery will also host Jo Jo Spook’s quirky and satirical Objects of Desire exhibition to coincide with the festival, featuring works inspired by contemporary fashion, the modern woman and the need to collect desirable things

Across the road, Chardonnay Lodge will display the Non-Acquisitive Vinicultural Art Prize and Exhibition, designed to encourage artists to produce work featuring viticulture and winemaking, its landscapes, architecture, characters and produce.

The winner will be announced at 1.30pm on Saturday, May 16, with complementary light nibbles and refreshments.
