Success fuels energy plans

After last year’s successful run to establish a solar neighbourhood project for electricity generation, the search is on for South East residents to bulk buy into a solar hot water project.

Community Action for Sustainability (CAS) established the solar neighbourhood project for residents by taking advantage of reduced bulk prices and government rebates and now plans to do the same to get a solar hot water neighbourhood off the ground.

The action group will run a series of information sessions in May and June on solar hot water and heat pump systems, also state and Commonwealth energy-related rebates, renewable energy certificates and energy efficiency incentives.

CAS chair Sandra Young said local and interstate experts would speak at these sessions while Gerry Velatis from the energy division of the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure would outline the available rebates and incentives.

For more information phone Ms Young on 8739 3245 or Catherine Pye on 8725 3821.
