Southend breakwater idea floated

The possibility of a breakwater at Southend to protect the 25 professional lobster fishing vessels that operate out of the port has been mooted.
A breakwater would come under the auspices of the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure.
Wattle Range mayor Mark Braes referred briefly to the Southend breakwater concept in his report to the May monthly council meeting.
“Along with Councillors Darren O’Halloran and Michael McCourt I attended at the Southend Jetty on April 28 to be briefed by representatives of the Southend Professional Fishing Association in relation to the state of the jetty and moorings for the professional fishing fleet,” Mr Braes reported.
“The association has been in discussion with the relevant State Government departments in respect of proposed capital works to improve the safety and amenity for boat users, including a prospective breakwater to provide protection to the fishing fleet and the Southend coastline.”

You would need to be very careful about any Breakwater design at Southend.
The amount of sand that moves around in that bay, you could well have another Port MacDonnell or Beachport on your hands.
great for a few years then a nightmare to manage after that.
