Cup jockey fails breath test

Stewards have announced that jockey Justin Potter failed a breath test this morning and will not ride in the Scott Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup this afternoon.

Potter was scheduled to ride Campaspe River ($14.40 on the tote) in the main event at 3.40pm.

It’s understood Potter, who was seen drinking in a Mount Gambier hotel last night, blew .04.

Potter was also booked to ride Master McGinty in the first race at 11.26am, Unite and Excite in Race 5 and Phobias in Race 7.
