Apprentices across the South East are gearing up for the regional heats of the 2009 Worldskills competitions, beginning June 29.

Worldskills offers young Australians aged 23 and under the opportunity to compete against peers in their chosen trade, enhancing their skills and career development.

TAFE SA lecturer and organiser of the regional event, Angela Marzouk, said industry support was outstanding, which ensured the highest quality of skills.

This year’s competition will include business administration, welding, construction steelwork, fitting, turning, electrical installation, electrical control, hair dressing, beauty, cabinet making, carpentry, cookery and information technology.
