The Mount Gambier Pioneers have lost the opening two games of their three-match road trip.
The Pioneers went down to the Geelong Supercats 122 – 125 on Friday night and lost on Saturday night to the Sandringham Sabres 98 – 118.
Andrew Rice top scored against the Sabres with 28 points and had 15 rebounds.
Sandringham blew the Pioneers away 36 – 15 in the opening quarter.
There was heartbreak for the Pioneers on Friday night when a Nathan Herbert lay-up after a steal at mid-court with the Supercats leading by just a point with less than 10 seconds to play sealed the game for Geelong.
The Supercats started more impressively and led by 19 points in the first half against the Pioneers, who suited up just seven players.
Dallas Jeffree top scored with 31, and along with an Andrew Rice half-court three-pointer on the buzzer, helped the Pioneers get within seven points at half time.
The two losses make it almost impossible for Mount Gambier to make the play-offs.
The Pioneers play Nunawading on Sunday.
