Pioneers end losing streak

The Mount Gambier Pioneers ended their three-game road trip with an 87 – 79 victory against the Nunawading Spectres on Sunday afternoon.

The victory followed critical losses to Geelong and Sandringham, and although welcome, leaves the Pioneers with little hope of making the play-offs.

Mount Gambier started well against Nunawading, leading 26 – 19 at quarter time. The home team came back strongly in the second quarter, but Mount Gambier always found the answers when they were needed.

Dallas Jeffree top scored with 26 points and Andrew Rice made 19. Kevin Smith had 11 rebounds and Jeffree nine.

Mount Gambier led for most of the game, except for a period in the third quarter.
