A man who voluntarily walked into the Mount Gambier police station on private business had his licence disqualified for three months when he pleaded guilty in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court last week to drink driving.

The court heard police saw the defendant park a Toyota Landcruiser on Bay Road and enter the station to identify himself in relation to another matter on March 18.

While speaking with the man, an officer smelt alcohol on his breath.

The defendant admitted to having a drink before driving from Eight Mile Creek to the station and blew .098 on the breathalyser.

He was issued with an immediate six-month licence disqualification and, having already served three months at the time of his court appearance, Magistrate Bill Morris imposed the minimum penalty.
