Robe seeks board reforms

Robe District Council has called for reforms to the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board (LCRDB) which is partially funded by South East councils.
Passing six resolutions unanimously, Robe council wants the board and its members to be more transparent and accountable.
Robe is calling on the other six affiliated councils to support its call for more transparency and accountability regarding the board, its members and its activities.
Currently board members, employees and “target group members” do not have a register of pecuniary interests like politicians and elected council members.
In a report to Robe’s most recent meeting, chief executive Bill Hender highlighted the region’s councils had recently agreed to fund the board for a further five years.
“The District Council of Robe’s SELGA representative (Mayor William Peden) expressed some concerns at the meeting and has proposed moving a number of resolutions at the next SELGA meeting and is seeking the support of council,” Mr Hender said.
