Charity soccer games raise $1500

Charity soccer matches at Casadio Park on Thursday night raised about $1500 for the Matubi Family Trust.

Several children from the family were orphaned when their mother died in a recent house fire on Lake Terrace.

The International Over 35s reversed last year’s result to defeat a Mount Gambier Police team 5 – 3 and the Media Select team defeated a Western Border Soccer Association side by the same scoreline.

Association chief executive Bob Sandow was delighted with the turn-out and the atmosphere.

More than $1000 was taken at the gate.

“Next year it will be even bigger and better,” Mr Sandow said.

Most of the players were nursing sore bodies on Friday, but everyone enjoyed the night and were pleased to support a worthy cause.

Details: International Over 35s 5 (Jim Cornolo 3, Joe D’Agostino 2) d Mount Gambier Police 3 (Dave Galloway 2, M Birch).

Media Selection 5 (Keisha Seiler, Lewis Ferguson 2, Katrina Hockey) d WBSA 3 (Cameron Craig, Adam Osman, Aaron Matubi).
