Car hits girl near police station

A four-year old girl was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car outside the Mount Gambier police station on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a driver travelling south on Bay Road swerved to avoid the girl, who had run onto the road, but could not avoid her.

The girl was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collarbone.

In other news, a set of scales was stolen from a residence in Sturt Street on Wednesday.

Police attended the residence at 3pm after the occupant reported his house had been broken into by the front door being smashed.
