A roundabout will be built at the intersection of Attamurra Road and Wireless Road East after a city council application for black spot funding was approved.
The Black Spot Program will cover $268,000 of the total $400,000 cost, but as the project is on a boundary road the Mount Gambier City Council and the District Council of Grant will each provide $66,000 to fund the remaining $132,000.
While no funding was allocated in the council’s 2008/09 budget, council expects they will receive an additional funding boost of $131,000 through the special local roads funding program of which $66,000 can be assigned to the new roundabout.
In addition the District Council of Grant received black spot funding for crest removal and road realignment at the intersection of Wireless Road West and O’Leary Road, which will also be jointly funded by both councils.
