State amateur titles in Mount Gambier

The Golf SA Senior Men’s Amateur Championship will be held over three days at the Mount Gambier Golf Club from Monday, November 2 to November 4, played over 54 holes with 18 holes of stroke play each day.
The event is open to male amateur golfers who are 55 years of age or over, within the handicap limit of 15.4 and members of clubs affiliated with Golf SA or State or overseas associations.
The 2009 championship, a Golf Australia Senior Men’s ranking event, has attracted a strong field of 47 players from 36 clubs. Thirty-six players are from interstate.
Top contenders include number one Australian ranked senior Stefan Albinski, from Mona Vale Golf Club in NSW.
Stefan currently holds the Senior Amateur titles in Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia and Victoria.
From Asquith Golf Club in NSW, Denis Dale a two time winner of the Australian Senior Championship and Australian Senior Order of Merit is another quality entrant.
The SA contingent will be headed up by Mount Gambier’s very own John Beaumont, who is in good form after recently finishing runner-up at the inaugural Grange Senior Open Amateur.
