Season openings for swimming facilities at Millicent, Nangwarry and Penola will be staggered to allow for upgrade works.
Seal repairs are needed on the floor of the Millicent Swimming Lakes and two new shade structures will also be added at the site.
Nangwarry Pool will have a new water filtration system installed, while filtration pipelines at the Penola Pool will be replaced and the pool will be resurfaced.
Millicent Swimming Lake will be opened on November 23, Nangwarry Pool will open November 30 and the Penola Pool will open on December 11.
Council has allocated $416,000 for upgrades to the three swimming centres, including $270,000 for Penola, $118,000 for Nangwarry and $28,000 at Millicent.
Additional works at Penola include improved fencing and upgrading the changeroom and toilet facilities during the swimming season.
“The other upgrading works at the swimming centres has commenced, with the opening dates being managed around the completion of the upgrading work,” council chief executive Frank Brennan said.
“If these works are completed earlier than estimated, then council will open the pools earlier.”
Mr Brennan said lifeguards had been recruited to supervise the swimming facilities, but anyone interested in working at any of the three sites should contact council to register their interest.
