Monster cats on the prowl in South East

Posted on July 23, 2008, 5:05pm and updated on September 19, 2008 at 5:09 pm

Monster cats around the South East and Western Victoria are on the prowl, leaving behind footprints and skeletons of animals mauled to death with the heart, liver and lungs eaten first.

Around the size of Golden Retrievers, the big cats can be black or tan and usually prowl alone, except in mating season.

Farmers in the region have reported hearing and tracking the big cats which are “as quick as lightning” and too fast for a camera or shotgun.

Meanwhile, other residents are spotting the giant felines on roadsides.

  • More online tomorrow. Full report in The Border Watch on Thursday.

    Attn: Chris Oldfield

    Hello Chris,

Let me introduce myself, I am a retired soldier from the Australian Army, I served 21 years as a sniper with the Infantry and am now a semi professional hunter.
I am very interested in the alledged big cat sightings (I only use alledged as without hard proof there are no big cats).

If it is at all possible could you put me in a contact list so when recent sightings are made I could be informed of the sightings and possible make contact with the person who made the sighting.

My aim would be to gather some intelligence and make contact with the persons who made the sighting and then obtain approval from the land holder to come and hunt the animal in an attempt too shoot one and obtain hard evidence.

I am also a SSAA member and as such am covered by the SSAA insurance system which should provide the land owner with some piece of mind.

    Yours sincerely
