Australia’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Tim Fischer, has told The Border Watch he is monitoring progress on the campaign to secure the sainthood of Blessed Mary MacKillop.
“The Pope has told me he has great interest in the case,” the former Deputy Prime Minister said.
Mr Fischer said the interstate pilgrims trail between Portland and Penola, linking important sites in the life of the woman who could become Australia’s first saint, had great tourism potential.
