Party night on Christmas Eve

The city’s hotels are gearing up for one of the busiest nights of the year on Thursday night as the festive season launches into action with bands, karaoke singers and DJs ensuring it is not quiet the night before Christmas.

Shadows will rock with a Christmas Eve party featuring DJ Nick, DJ Father Christmas and MC Bruno through until 5am.

Meanwhile, karaoke will add to the Christmas Eve fun at the Federal Hotel.

The South Aussie Hotel will host new local act, The Moment, tonight featuring Ben Merchant, Rohan Graney, Michael Edwards before firing up the juke box on New Year’s Eve.

The Moment will follow-up the show with a New Year’s Eve gig at The Bellum Hotel on a night packed with entertainment throughout the South East.

Mount Gambier’s inaugural New Year’s Eve Festival will feature top local bands Mischief and Mayhem, Mahalia Fox, Calamari for Breakfast, Rhapsody, Admella, Rats on a Stick and the RSL Blue Lake Pipe Band, along with children’s entertainment.

While the community festival at Vansittart Park, featuring bands, fireworks and wrestling, will entertain families and people of all ages, hotels are also expected to be busy.

Beachport Hotel will host former local Casey Ettridge’s band Engine Three Seven in a night of seaside partying to welcome the new year with the top Melbourne-based band.

Classic rock and roll will ring through Carpenter Rocks with The Cruisers at The Rocks Tavern from 8pm until late.

Meanwhile, Chardonnay Lodge will feature Mount Gambier singer/songwriter Christy Wallace accompanied by husband Jason playing a mix of original songs and rock, country and folk classics.
