The City of Mount Gambier hosted local students at City Hall recently to explain the importance of hygine and food requirements as part of National Food Safety Week.

Australia’s Loudest Shout

Australia’s Loudest Shout: “No” to domestic violence against women will be held at the Blue Lake pumping station on Tuesday, November 25.
Organisers hope the shout will exceed last year’s record of 100.3 decibels, the sound of a jackhammer.
Participants will meet at the games from 12 noon and shout at 12.30pm. Read more

Christmas lights shine ray of hope

Lynn Brierley’s family’s Christmas light and decoration display will be bigger than ever this year to help raise community support and financial assistance for children affected by autism and Asperger syndrome.
For the past four years the family have decorated their house, with visitors welcome to meet Santa in the front-yard during the Christmas season in their Lightz for Kidz initiative. Read more
Remembrance Day on Tuesday

Students show their pedal power

Students from St Martin’s Lutheran College will be travelling to Maryborough next month to show off their pedal power and race their human-powered vehicle.
The vehicle, a recumbent bicycle, was purchased for $2500 and the students have spent all year adding safety equipment and training for the competition. Read more
Yahl school celebrates 140 years

Celebrations for Yahl Primary School’s 140th anniversary last Friday were a big success despite light rain putting a dampener on outdoor activities.
As cars lined the road outside the school, old scholars, parents, friends and families all came out to commemorate the anniversary of one of the state’s oldest schools. Read more
