Beachport ready for SeaFari party

Beachport will be flooded with art displays, music and other entertainment from today through to Sunday (February 28) for the SeaFari 2010 Beachport Festival by the Sea.
A visual arts trail will weave an inspiring path to various Beachport locations on Friday night with sculptural icons, new paintings, a silent auction and exhibition openings featuring pieces from local, interstate and international artists. Read more
Italian films to screen on Thursday

Two films featured in the Lavazza Italian Film Festival in Australian capital cities will be screened in Mount Gambier by Reels @ Wehl Film Society on Thursday, March 4.
Comedy Lessons in Chocolate, rated M, screens at 6pm, featuring the story of Mattia, who is about to close the biggest deal of his professional life, when his illegally-hired worker Kamal is badly injured when he falls off scaffolding. Read more
Rock section idea for eisteddfod

Heywood’s annual Wood, Wine and Roses festival is rapidly approaching, with the event to launch into action on February 27 with ride-on mower races, live entertainment, displays and other attractions.

New rock band set for debut

A new rock band is about to make its presence known on Mount Gambier’s live music scene this weekend as one of the region’s top duos becomes a four-piece.
After more than 3000 live gigs around Australia, Terry Sutherland and Jool, who have long performed as Trespass, have put together their first full outfit since the late ‘80s, when their band Fair Warning rocked the South East and some of Adelaide’s top venues. Read more
Rural landscape explored in art

Mount Gambier artist Diana Wiseman is exhibiting at Penola’s Gallery 54 during February and March.
Wiseman is well-known in the Limestone Coast region as an artist and teacher.
Her works explore the textures, colours, light, space and patterns of the rural landscape. Themes such as ducks, geese and snails feature in the linocuts, collographs and monoprints. Read more
