Port MacDonnell is a mere one win away from a fairytale season which has seen the 2009 Mid South East Football League wooden spooners undergo a complete transformation to become the first side to qualify for the 2010 grand final.

The Demons secured a 20 point win over reigning premiers Mount Burr in front of a large crowd at Tantanoola in what was a high quality match thanks to warm and calmer weather conditions. Read more

Tigers and Roos clinch junior flags

North Gambier thwarted East’s bid to claim back-to-back Western Border Junior Football League Under 16 premierships in a relatively one sided match at McDonald Park last Sunday, August 22.

The Tigers set up their eventual 43 point victory with a dominant second quarter, led by Dylan Munn, who was judged best afield by the officiating umpires. Read more

Macdonald clears pack to claim Mail Medal

Dominant ruckman Will Macdonald has become just the third Port MacDonnell player to win the Mid South East Football League’s highest individual honour, the Mail Medal.

Macdonald polled 20 votes in the medal count, held at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre on Friday, August 20. Read more

Pies continue march towards premiership

Kalangadoo’s second step of the 2010 Mid South East Football League season towards erasing a nine year premiership drought was completed with relative ease on Sunday.

The Magpies coasted home to a 29 point 1st semi-final victory against Glencoe at Kongorong before a crowd which paid a healthy $10,000 at the gate. Read more

Mossies coach breaks 14 year drought

First year Mount Burr coach Mark Kruger is the first Mossie to win the Mid South East Football League goalkicking for 14 years.

Kruger booted 64 goals from 16 roster games and finished eight ahead of teammate, Adam Wiese. Read more

Impressive win announces West as grand final contenders

West Gambier kicked itself back into grand final calculations with an impressive victory over Portland at Malseed Park on the weekend.

In a day that was always going to be tough for fair weather players, West knuckled down to the task and replaced Portland in third spot after winning by 29 points. Read more

South premiership campaign blow

The remainder of South Gambier’s premiership campaign will not include dynamic forward Brett O’Neil because of injury.

Demons coach Jon Copping confirmed O’Neil had suffered a broken jaw in the August 7 home game against West and would almost certainly miss the rest of the season. Read more
