Young Redbacks make state team

Two Redbacks Hockey Club players have been selected in the South Australian schoolboys under 16 team to compete in the Pacific School Games in Canberra next month.
Harrison Gill and Cameron White are popular players in the division 1 men’s team and were instrumental in the club’s success in reaching the grand final this season.
Gill is renowned for his uncanny goal ability and was Redbacks’ leading scorer this year.
White is a skilful midfielder/forward and was recently included in the SA under 18 Academy squad.
Both players are hard workers in their chosen sport and deserve their State selection.
Redbacks club officials have wish them well and hope that many more of its strong pool of junior talent also win state recognition in the near future.
The Pacific School Games will be a special tournament as players will get the opportunity to compete against Japan, Singapore and Malaysia as well as other Australian states and territories.
Hockey training camp a success

The weekend hockey training camp for South Australian and Victorian under 21 sports institute players has again proven to be a success.
SASI coach Jason Butcher and Victorian counterpart Toni Cumpston brought their sides to Mount Gambier for a high intensity pre-season training camp that featured on and off field training techniques. Read more
Tigers celebrate successful year

Tigers Hockey Club enjoyed unprecedented success this year.
Ten teams were fielded - seven senior and three junior teams - and nine teams made the finals.
These nine teams also participated in grand finals for their respective grades and Tigers took home four premierships. Read more
Manser awarded life membership

Terry Manser is the newest Lower South East Hockey Association life member.
Manser was presented with his award at the recent senior grand finals at Blue Lake Sports Park.
Manser joined Waybacks (now Redbacks) in the B grade competition in 1976 at just 14 years of age and was promoted to A grade in 1978. Read more
Hockey talent coming to Mount Gambier

The best young female hockey players from South Australia and Victoria are coming to Mount Gambier for a high intensity training camp.
The players, from the South Australian and Victorian sports institutes, will be in the region from October 10-12 as Mount Gambier had recently become a regional high performance centre for both SASI and VIS hockey. Read more

The Lower South East Hockey Association has named its division one men’s and women’s team of the year.

Naracoorte and Tigers win hockey flags

Naracoorte defeated Redbacks 8-2 to win the Lower South East Hockey Association division one women’s premiership for 2008. Tigers defeated Redbacks 3-1 in the men’s final. Read more

The Redbacks Hockey Club will be hoping to continue its rich vein of success when it competes in this weekend’s Lower South East Hockey Association grand finals.
Redbacks will contest both the division one men and women’s playoffs, while the club’s under 15 girls will also play in a grand final. Read more

In a must win game for both teams, Redbacks defeated Tigers 3-1 in division one women’s hockey last weekend.
