Lines pleased with rebuilt car

Although disappointed to have missed out on a spot on the podium, Mount Gambier’s Steve Lines was pleased with the speed that he showed throughout the annual King of Wings event last weekend at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia.
The final night of the King of Wings resulted in Lines finishing just off the podium in the feature race in fourth place and despite showing consistent speed throughout the weekend it left him slightly disappointed. Read more

With just a slice of luck, nothing should prevent tomorrow night’s 16th annual King’s Challenge from going ahead without a glitch at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway.
Last year speedway fans left the track disgruntled because the A Main final couldn’t go ahead because of a late night heavy downpour caused the cancellation of racing. Read more
Johnson maintains winning form

For the third year in a row, American Jason Johnson has proved unstoppable at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway.
Before an estimated crowd of more than 6000 on Monday night, Johnson won the Mount Gambier round of the World Series Sprintcars and it was in a fashion that suggested he isn’t finished yet. Read more
Sutherland comes of age

Unheralded Mount Gambier sprintcar driver Glen Sutherland made some of his better known adversaries sit up and take notice in Round 5 of the World Series Sprintcars at the weekend.
With the roaring action of the sprintcars coming to Borderline Speedway last night for Round 6, Sutherland was full of confidence after winning two heats at Murray Bridge on Sunday. Read more
Sprintcars action on Monday night

The sixth round of the World Series Sprintcars will be raced in Mount Gambier on Monday night (December 28) and the action is sure to be fast and furious.
Three rounds have been held so far and before Borderline Speedway gets a crack at the action, Adelaide’s Speedway City (Saturday) and the Murray Bridge Speedway (Sunday) will also see the fastest sprintcars going around. Read more
Breakthrough for Lines at Avalon

Mount Gambier sprintcar ace Steve Lines scored a breakthrough victory at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway at the weekend.
Lines produced a stunning drive to hold off Matthew Reed in the fourth round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, which coincided with the 41st running of the Fireball Derby. Read more

Gazzard defends Hill Climb title

The 2009 edition of the Pirtek Legend of the Lakes Hill Climb provided plenty of high-paced action and no shortage of drama.
Mount Gambier’s Peter Gazzard successfully defended his title as the fastest driver up the hill, fending off the close challenge of former dual champion Kevin Mackrell of Traralgon. Read more

Autofest a resounding success

Judging by crowd response, the inaugural Mount Gambier Autofest was a resounding success and future editions look almost assured.
