Gazzard triumphs in hill climb

After two years of near misses, Mount Gambier motorsport ace Peter Gazzard broke through to finally win the Pirtek Legend of the Lakes Hill Climb at the weekend.

Gazzard (47) beat off his arch rival - dual and defending champion - Kevin Mackrell, from Traralgon, to win by .57 of a second. Read more

Winning form in the Australia wide Dutton Rally series could be the catalyst behind Mount Gambier’s Peter Gazzard’s chances in this weekend’s third annual Pirtek Legend of the Lakes Hill Climb.

Mackrell favourite for Lakes Hill Climb

Now into its third year, the Legend of the Lakes Hill Climb has captured the imagination of both competitors and the general public.

To be held this weekend in the picturesque Valley Lakes area, organisers have attracted a capacity field of 110 drivers - all of whom will be trying to beat the race record time of 52.51 seconds, set last year by Victorian Kevin Mackrell. Read more

Organisers of the third annual Legend of the Lake hill climb have a problem other sporting bodies would only to be glad to be concerned about.

Scheduled for the weekend of November 7-9, the hill climb has attracted 123 entries. Problem is, organisers can only cater for 110. Read more

Pout wins off-road Pines Enduro

Brad Prout stormed home to take his first AORC pole position at the Teagle Excavations Off Road Pines Enduro at Millicent on Saturday.

The Pines Enduro was round five of the 2008 Australian Off Road Championship and Prout blasted around the prologue track to be the only competitor to go under the three minute lap. Read more

Racing in the annual 360 Knoxville Nationals, Lines competed on the second night and qualified 18th in the 61 car field. Read more

McNicol holds series lead

The placings of the seven Mount Gambier junior motocross riders who contested the third round of the South Australian Championships at Kimba have now been confirmed.

Riding in the division two 50cc automatic class, Morgan McNicol was the most successful, finishing second overall for the day from two firsts and a seventh after leading the third race but unable to quickly restart his bike following a tumble. Read more
