The much awaited first Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club’s TAB Sunday meeting has been re-scheduled yet again, this time until early September.

Originally planned for early July, the MGGRC has been hindered by progress work at its Tara Raceway complex, particularly in the area of digital cables from TAB and Telstra. Read more

Ban pressure builds after jumps fatality

Racing Victoria will be placed under enormous pressure yet again to ban jumps racing after another horse fatality at the weekend, this time at the neighbouring Casterton.

STYLISH five-year-old mare Montjeu Madame took her career earnings through the $100,000 barrier with an outstanding win in last Friday’s $40,000 Scott Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup.

Not only did the Darryl Dodson trained stayer give her rivals a start and a beating, she also crunched almost two seconds off the track record for the 2400 metre trip. Read more

Montjeu Madame claims cup in thrilling finish

The Darryl Dodson trained Montjeu Madame, one of two Victorian trained gallopers in the race, won Saturday’s $30,825 Scott Group of Companies Millicent Cup at Allan Scott Glenburnie Racecourse.

In a thrilling, three way finish which had the crowd of 1250 on its toes, Montjeu Madame held off the fast finishing Magical Sunday to prevail by a neck, with a head back to the leader General Mackjosh. Read more
