ACCC opposes Sumitomo bid

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will oppose the proposed acquisition of certain assets of Carter Holt Harvey Limited’s Woodproducts Australia business by Sumitomo Forestry Company Limited, ACCC Chairman, Mr Graeme Samuel, has said.
After an initial investigation, the ACCC published a Statement of Issues on January 16, 2008 which identified a number of preliminary concerns in relation to the proposed acquisition. Read more
Wynns announce distribution deal

Wynns Coonawarra Estate has announced an exclusive distribution agreement with Matthew Clark and its sister company Wine Studio.
Simon Brook, business controller for the on-trade at Foster’s EMEA, said: “We are very pleased to announce this agreement with Matthew Clark.
“Regionality in Australia is becoming increasingly important in the trade and Wynns Coonawarra Estate is a key part of our Australian regional strategy.”
