Today (Thursday) marks 150 years since the SS Admella came to grief in rough seas near Carpenter Rocks, leaving passengers and crew clinging to the wreckage a mile offshore for up to eight days.

While 89 lives were tragically lost, 24 people survived thanks to a gallant rescue bid. Read more

Admella Festival begins next week

Entries invited for Admella exhibition

Artists have been urged to contribute works to an exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the wreck of the steamship Admella off Carpenter Rocks.

Activity for the display stepped up recently when community members attempted to capture the drama and tragedy of the wreck during a watercolour workshop at the Riddoch Art Gallery. Read more
