Fire destroys Allendale East home

A house fire at Allendale East this morning caused about $100,000 damage, while the residents were out.

The blaze took hold of the home on the corner of Williams and Mortimer Streets, in the Allendale East township, at about 8.30am.

Port MacDonnell, Allendale East, Donovans, Mount Schank and Moorak Country Fire Service crews attended, but the house was reportedly burnt beyond repair. Read more

Mature-age students do well at SACE

Four mature aged students have successfully completed their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) this year through a program provided by Allendale East Area School.

Global energy, water and infrastructure giant Acciona has spent three years monitoring the wind in Allendale East district and is now preparing to lodge an application within months for a multi-million dollar green power project in the area.

Power cut at Port MacDonnell

September 15, 2008

About 651 households in Port MacDonnell, Allendale East and Carpenter Rocks were without electricity this morning.

ETSA says the power cut was notified at 4.34am following strong winds overnight.

Crews patrolled the line to identify the fault. Power was restored by 9.45am.
