Rural landscape explored in art

Mount Gambier artist Diana Wiseman is exhibiting at Penola’s Gallery 54 during February and March.

Wiseman is well-known in the Limestone Coast region as an artist and teacher.

Her works explore the textures, colours, light, space and patterns of the rural landscape. Themes such as ducks, geese and snails feature in the linocuts, collographs and monoprints. Read more

The exhibition is a snapshot of fire in our lives, from its devastating impact when wild through to its use as a tool when tamed.

In her photographs on canvas, Kate explores the destructive nature of fire through symbolic colours. Read more

A Mount Gambier artist has called for councils and businesses to make more space available for young people to paint urban murals and designs on the city’s walls.

Anthony Hamilton also urged parents to allow teens to use spray cans at home on boards or blank spaces for them to legally express creativity. Read more

Spectacular indigenous art display

What is considered to be the most spectacular Western Desert painting in existence, Ngurrara: The Great Sandy Desert Canvas, will be on display at the Riddoch Art Gallery from March 28 to May 10.

The colossal size work of art, which is 8×10 metres, falls over two stories and is the result of the collaboration of more than 60 artists from the South Kimberley region. Read more
