SeaFari workshops in Beachport

Workshops are continuing this week in the lead up to the SeaFari 2010 Beachport Festival by the Sea.
Beachport artist Dave Messenger is presenting a series of sessions to help people make lanterns inspired by the ocean theme, with the completed works to be included in a special performance on the Saturday night of the festival. Read more

Arts festival draws big crowds

The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival again attracted thousands of visitors to the town for a huge weekend of celebrations.
In a major boost for the organising committee, the 2009 festival proved to be one the best ever, with the mix of big name guests, a wide variety of exhibitions and new and exciting events for the whole family bringing Penola and Coonawarra to life over four nights. Read more

Development of a new Mount Gambier organisation to support and promote the South East’s creative talents is progressing.
Limestone Coast Performing Artists Inc will hold its inaugural annual general meeting tonight at 7.30pm in the leadlight room at the institute building, next to the Riddoch Art Gallery in Mount Gambier. Read more
$3m arts centre planned for high school

Construction work on Mount Gambier High School’s new $3m arts centre will finally kick off in the new year after an eight-year push for Federal Government funding.
During those eight years the arts centre was first rejected and then removed from the government’s list of capital works, but when the school’s governing council persisted, $2m was approved for the 800 square metre facility. Read more
