Company warns pellet plant at risk

The proponents of the $30m wood pellet plant near Mount Gambier are hoping the development will receive the green light next month so work on the Wandilo site can start within weeks.

But Plantation Energy Australia spokesperson Jarrod Waring yesterday warned the project could be delayed for 12 months or even “jeopardised” if the site for the development was rejected. Read more

Wood pellet plant application lodged

Plantation Energy Australia has lodged a development application with Grant District Council to build a $25m wood pellet processing plant at Wandilo.

The plant, which will export environmentally friendly wood pellets to the European domestic market, is expected to create 15 full-time jobs, along with spin-off employment for the region’s transport and service industries. Read more

Wandilo site identified for pellet plant

Developers of a planned $25m biomass fuel pellet plant have identified a Wandilo site for the project and hope to begin construction in May.

Plantation Energy business development manager Jarrod Waring said discussions with Forestry SA had identified the site, neighbouring the Van Schaik’s Bio Gro composting plant, and the company was now preparing to lodge planning approval documents. Read more

Jobs boost from $50m biofuel investment

Western Australian based Plantation Energy is gearing up to build a $25m wood pellet mill on the outskirts of Mount Gambier which would employ more than 60 people directly and indirectly.

The company will build the mill and another at Heywood of the same size, initially to service market demand in Europe for biofuel. Read more
