Chamber: Don’t forget Commercial St

Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce president Lynette Martin has welcomed the transformation of the Bay Road main corner, but asked that Commercial Street businesses not be ignored as part of the exciting city centre precinct.

Chairing the chamber’s annual meeting yesterday, Ms Martin said the organisation would like to see Commercial Street businesses and the redevelopment become one attractive precinct. Read more

City centre parking concerns raised

Businesses near Mount Gambier’s Uniting Church hall have voiced concerns development of a 97-room aged care facility at the site will create traffic chaos.

City Council’s development assessment panel approved the project last week, including demolition of the hall and tennis courts to create the two-storey centre. Read more

Lane redevelopment approved

Mount Gambier City Council has formally given the go-ahead for the Engelbrecht Lane redevelopment in the heart of the city.

The redevelopment blueprint will create a rejuvenated pedestrian linkage from Commercial Street West to the Lakes Village precinct. Read more
