Mount Gambier ABC Learning Centre will continue operating in 2009, despite an announcement today that 55 will close and 241 centres were unreview because they were not viable.

The city’s childcare centre will trade into 2009 under an arrangement announced by the Federal Government and is one of the 720 facilities which will remain in the embattled ABC Learning Group. Read more

Immunisation rules set to change

From January 1 parents and guardians will need to have their children immunised within one month of their fourth birthday to retain their childcare subsidy.

Under new changes to the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register, a child is considered overdue for vaccination at the age of four years and one month, while currently vaccinations are considered overdue when a child turns five. Read more

Uncertain future for ABC centre

The future of Mount Gambier’s ABC Learning Centre remains under a cloud, following the Childcare Union yesterday calling on Federal and State Governments and company officials to clarify uncertainty surrounding the company.

As media reports speculate an administrator may be appointed to ABC Learning, union national secretary Louise Tarrant said the uncertainty for families and workers at ABC Learning Centres could not go on. Read more
