Land management documents launched

Hamilton’s Sheepvention today was the backdrop for the launch of three important documents for the Glenelg Hopkins region by Victorian Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Ben Hardman.
While spending the day touring and meeting Sheepvention exhibitors, Mr Hardman launched the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority’s (GHCMA) Soil Health Strategy, Regional Weed Plan and the “New Weeds of the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment” booklet. Read more
New CMA board appointed

The Victorian Government has appointed new board members to the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority (CMA).
“The skills and experience the board members bring to their new roles will help Victorians to reduce their ecological impact while ensuring community views on land, biodiversity, water resource and waterway priorities are effectively conveyed to government,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said. Anger voiced at river mouth flooding

A Nelson business operator has voiced frustration at the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority’s timing of the artificial opening of the Glenelg River mouth, claiming it cost him thousands of dollars.
He said extensive flooding had also impacted on the broader community, making the riverside precinct unsafe for camping and leaving fishing facilities in a poor state. Read more
