The West Gambier Cricket Club has backed down on its decision to hold onto all $10,000 won in the recent Sungold Milk Twenty/20 tournament and will pay the Mount Gambier District Cricket Association a 40pc levy of the prizemoney.
West Gambier and the MGDCA have been involved in somewhat of a stand off since the Australia Day win in the Warrnambool based cricket tournament. Read more
U15 cricketers win Burdon Shield

The Mount Gambier Junior Cricket Association’s Under 15 Blue XI scored a resounding five wicket win over Tatiara in the annual Burdon Shield, which was played at Naracoorte last Sunday.
Batting first, Tatiara were dismissed for 114 in just 32 overs with Mount Gambier duo Alex Bowd and Oliver March claiming three wickets each. Read more
Deadline looms for prize payment

The West Gambier Cricket Club’s executive committee is expected to meet tonight to outline a plan of attack in an attempt to retain the full $10,000 which it won in the recent Sungold Milk Twenty/20 Big Bash tournament.
Under the Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association’s 2009-10 playing conditions, any of its member clubs that won prizemoney in the Warrnambool based event would be subject to a 40pc levy. Read more
Mil Lel wins one-day cricket title

West Gambier’s gun bowling line up failed to fire against a youthful Mil Lel, handing last year’s runner-up a four wicket win and champion status in the Mount Gambier District Cricket Association’s 50-over XXXX Gold One Day Cup.
Held on Sunday at Frew Park, the climactic end to limited over cricket for the season was redemption for Mil Lel, having failed to snare the title after losing to North Gambier early last year. Read more

The executive of the Mount Gambier District Cricket Association is about to be placed under extreme pressure to overturn a decision to impose a $4000 prizemoney levy on the West Gambier Cricket Club.
West Gambier won the recent Sungold Milk Twenty/20 Big Bash tournament, organised by the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association and were handed a $10,000 cheque on Australia Day. Read more
Mil Lel faces West Gambier in cup final

Mil Lel will look to heal the pain of last year’s loss in the inaugural One Day Cup when it faces West Gambier in the highly anticipated grand final at Frew Park on Sunday.

New format for cricket carnival

Top-line Penola player George Kidman will lead the South East team into battle in the 85th annual BankSA Senior Country Cricket Carnival, when it starts in Adelaide next week.
Kidman has been appointed captain of a 14 man South East squad, for the week-long series, which has undergone a massive overhaul from previous years. Read more

Three North Gambier cricketers have been suspended by the Mount Gambier District Cricket Association for code of conduct and spirit of cricket breaches.
An independent tribunal panel met last Thursday to hear charges against North players, Marcus Wallis, Nick Wilson and Gavin Coon. Read more

Success starved West Gambier Cricket Club has ventured across the border and won a prestigious regional competition.
Courtesy of winning the Mount Gambier District Cricket Association’s Twenty/20 competition earlier this month, West Gambier qualified for the Sungold Twenty/20 Big Bash tournament, which was hosted by the Warrnambool Cricket Association last Sunday and again on Australia Day. Read more

It didn’t happen overnight, but West Gambier has finally reached the top of the Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association, taking out Friday night’s XXXX Gold Twenty/20 Cup final.
West easily accounted for last year’s Twenty/20 champions, South Gambier, chasing down the 101 runs needed for victory on the first ball of the 15th over. Read more
