Conference proves good for business

“New dollars” flooded Mount Gambier this week when 380 aged care industry delegates descended on the city for a three-day conference.
The delegates from across South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales gathered in marquees outside the Civic Centre and the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre for the 19th annual tri-state aged care conference, which was held from Sunday to Tuesday. Read more
New Year celebration will be repeated

Mount Gambier will usher in 2011 with a community event following the success of the city’s first major celebration in several years.
The Mount Gambier Community Events management committee, which was behind last year’s celebrations, said the decision to hold the event next year was not difficult and planning had already begun. Read more
Beachport ready for SeaFari party

Beachport will be flooded with art displays, music and other entertainment from today through to Sunday (February 28) for the SeaFari 2010 Beachport Festival by the Sea.
A visual arts trail will weave an inspiring path to various Beachport locations on Friday night with sculptural icons, new paintings, a silent auction and exhibition openings featuring pieces from local, interstate and international artists. Read more

National event coming to Mount Gambier

In a major coup for sport and tourism, the City of Mount Gambier has won the right to host the 2009 Australian Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships.
Scheduled for June 6 – 8, the three day championships are expected to attract more than 200 competitors from all Australian states as well as New Zealand.
Included in the expected list of entries will be current world MTBO champion, Adrian Jackson of Victoria. Read more
