Safe Work award for Fosters Coonawarra

The South East has taken out one of the state’s major Safe Work awards for 2009 with innovation at Fosters’ Coonawarra vineyards reducing the risk of injury for workers.
Fosters won the Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue Award with what judges described as a “highly innovative and effective” engineering solution to replace manual processes. Read more
Grape glut threatens vineyards

Vineywards in Coonawarra could be replaced with grazing land as the national grape glut continues to bite.
Constellation Wines has announced it will close Padthaway’s $20m Stonehaven winery, cellar door and function centre next month after a buyer could not be found for the site amid the gloomy outlook for the sector. Read more
Foster’s puts 10 vineyards on the market

Ten vineyards from the Foster’s Group are on the market in the South East.
This follows an earlier announcement that Foster’s would sell 35pc of its vineyard assets in the region.
The vineyards are part of the vineyard divestment program announced in February as key outcomes of the company’s strategic and operational review.
Offered through Landmark are three holdings at Padthaway, three at Wrattonbully and four around Coonawarra. Read more

Foster’s South East workforce of 300 could be reduced by up to a quarter as the company sells off 35pc of its vineyard assets in the region.

Fosters to sell some Coonawarra vineyards

Liquor giant Fosters will retain its wine division, but plans to sell 36 vineyards and three wineries following a review of its business.
Fosters has a strong presence in Coonawarra, producing brands such as Penfolds, Jamisons Run, Rouge Homme, Lindemans and Robertsons Well. Read more
