EPA declares Lake Bonney safe

After many years of public debate on the presence of dangerous dioxins in Lake Bonney, it has now been declared safe for recreational use.
Speaking at a community forum in Mount Gambier on Monday, EPA science and sustainability division director Peter Dolan said results from tests on the sediment, water and fish have proved it safe for recreational use. Read more

His rehabilitation efforts have earned the KCA Millicent Mill electrician a place in the state final of the prestigious Workcover 2009 Recovery and Return to Work Awards. Read more
$25m distribution centre delivers

The new $25m Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) Millicent Mill distribution centre is now fully operational.
The total project cost comprised $8m for the building, with $17m spent on fitting out with racking, automatic cranes and computerised management systems. Read more
Anti-dumping complaint upheld

The Federal Government has backed a complaint jointly lodged by Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) and SCA Hygiene Australia, and is set to impose higher import duties on some imported paper products.

Industry cautious on emissions plan

The Federal Government’s proposed 5pc cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 was cautiously welcomed yesterday by Kimberly-Clark as “realistic”.

Carbon scheme puts mill jobs at risk

The Federal Government’s carbon emissions trading plan could put up to 1400 jobs at risk in the region if the scheme does not include protection for the Millicent and Tantanoola mills, according to Kimberly-Clark Australia.
Wattle Range Mayor Mark Braes said he would seek to raise the issue when he attends meetings in Canberra on Monday and Tuesday with the Prime Minister and local government leaders from across the country. Read more
Workplace accident at Tantanoola

Emergency services were required to rescue a person who fell down a lift well on Wednesday.
Country Fire Service, SA Police and SA Ambulance Service units attended the Kimberly-Clark Australia Tantanoola Mill shortly after 4pm to extricate the person from the lift well.
The injured person was conveyed to hospital. There was no information available regarding their condition.
Old boiler gets a makeover
