Courts Authority rejects sheriff claims

The Courts Administration Authority has rejected claims that a Mount Gambier-based Sheriff’s Officer will be put out of work during the Heyward murder trial.

Liberal candidate for Mount Gambier, Steve Perryman, last week called on Attorney-General Michael Atkinson to explain why one of Mount Gambier’s resident sheriffs was being told to stay at home while another officer was flown from Adelaide for duties at Mount Gambier. Read more

Conlon challenges cost of highway plan

Transport Minister Patrick Conlon has questioned the Liberal Party’s costing to duplicate 7.5km of the Riddoch Highway from Mount Gambier to just north of the city’s airport.

Mr Conlon told The Border Watch a section of the road from Jubilee Highway to Pine Hall Avenue had already been duplicated and the Liberals had under estimated the cost of a full upgrade. Read more

The Electoral Commission SA has urged Mount Gambier and district residents concerned about using postal election application forms sent by political parties to obtain one from their local post office.

This follows a Mount Gambier resident raising concerns that she received a postal vote application form in her mail from Liberal candidate for the seat of Mount Gambier Steve Perryman. Read more

Liberal candidate for Mount Gambier Steve Perryman says the Rann Government “must share some blame” for the loss of 130 jobs at Carter Holt Harvey’s Nangwarry plywood manufacturing plant.
