$8m blueprint for rail corridor development

An initial financial blueprint for the development of the railway corridor in the heart of Mount Gambier foreshadows the project could cost up to $8m.
Tabled at council’s corporate and community services committee on Tuesday night, the document — the first initial budget estimates on the development — revealed council was considering selling $3m worth of land to fund the project. Read more
Overgrown railway line a fire risk

Mount Gambier’s overgrown railway track is a fire hazard and an eyesore, according to concerned residents.
People living on the city’s eastern edge have expressed unease about the risk wild vegetation poses to their homes and safety.
They have called on the Transport Department to clear up the mess. Read more
City council plans to tidy rail corridor

Mount Gambier City Council is likely to start preliminary work to tidy the rail corridor in the heart of the city because of concerns it is unsightly.
While the minor works still have to be given the green light by full council on Tuesday night, council’s Operational Services Committee backed the proposal this week. Read more
