Industry reps missing from RDA board

South East leaders have voiced disappointment at the lack of industry representation on the newly formed Regional Development Australia board for the Limestone Coast.

The board members were announced this week following the merger of the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board and the former Area Consultative Committee under national reforms involving all three levels of government. Read more

Former State Liberal Party leader Dale Baker has retained his position as chairman of the South East’s peak regional development organisation.

Mr Baker’s appointment was announced in a joint statement by the Commonwealth and South Australian governments, along with the SA Local Government Association, revealing the board of Regional Development Australia (RDA). Read more

Regional development delays criticised

Shadow Minister for Regional Development, John Dawkins, says time is running out for the State and Federal Governments to announce South Australia’s seven Regional Development Australia (RDA) boards.

Mr Dawkins has called on state minister Paul Caica and federal parliamentary secretary Maxine McKew to expedite the appointments so funding arrangements can be finalised before the end of the year. Read more

Shadow Minister tours region

Liberal Regional Development spokesperson John Dawkins has returned to Adelaide from the South East after touring the region.

Fourteen regional council members vigorously contested a ballot to be one of four nominees on a new Limestone Coast development body.

Regional Development Australia (RDA) will replace the State Government’s Limestone Coast Regional Development Board and the Federal Government’s Area Consultative Committee as part of a new national network. Read more

New era for regional development

A tripartite agreement to establish a new regional development consultative organisation was signed in Adelaide today.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development and Local Government Maxine McKew, SA Minister for Regional Development Paul Caica, and the Local Government Association’s Felicity-ann Lewis formally reached agreement on arrangements for Regional Development Australia. Read more
